FAQ
Okay – what the heck is a "gourmet recreational cooking school"?
Where do we begin!
Primarily, we are a school where students sign up for one time only cooking classes
– an enjoyable afternoon or evening spent learning and of course – eating! We also
have some series of classes for those who’d like a more in depth approach.
We also have some wonderful evenings on our schedule for couples, foodies and lovers
of wine. Monthly Food & Wine Dinners, Dinner & a Date every Friday night
– it’s not exactly a cooking class but rather a delicious and informative emersion
into the world of cuisine & wine, right before your very eyes.
We have often been told it beats going to any restaurant in
town!
In addition, we also have a wonderful selection of boutique wines and lovely food
related retail items for sale in our small shopping area.
Plus, we are a fantastic facility to host private parties, dinners, corporate groups
and much more. Our motto is “If you can dream it, we can do it” – so don’t hesitate
to ask how we can transform our space to fit your needs.
Oh and by the way, we sell cupcakes!!
Do I need to bring anything to class with me?
For participation classes, you will be provided with an apron, as well as a recipe
booklet outlining the recipes used in class that day. The recipes are yours to keep!
You may want to bring a pen and a small notebook to take notes. All other cooking
equipment will be provided for you.
In most classes, you can expect to do a generous amount of food tasting. Some classes
include a full meal and will be noted as such. Food prepared in our school will
not leave the premises unless otherwise stated.
It is highly recommended that you also take care to wear long pants and comfortable,
safe closed toed rubber soled shoes in the interest of your safety & sanitation.
What can I expect during a typical class?
Most classes last approximately 2.5 – 3.5 hours. Workshops are generally a bit longer
because they are more in depth.
Classes will either be hands-on or demonstration style, and will be noted as such
in the class calendar. Some classes are called semi-participation because you will
spend the majority of the class watching and tasting and occasionally students come
up and help. For more information about these teaching methods and how our classes
are structured, please see the class information section.

Many of our classes include wine, beer & other cocktails that can be enjoyed
in tasting portions or by the glass, depending on the class. The cost of these drinks
is included in the price of the class unless otherwise noted.
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start time of your class in order
to check in and enjoy some pre-class refreshments! As we will be busy preparing
the school for your class, please try not to arrive any earlier, thanks!
Do you send out reminders before a class I'm signed up for?
Unfortunately that would be impossible for us to do – please mark your calendar
accordingly!
What is your cancellation policy for classes?
Cooking class reservations are like purchasing theater tickets. Because we are a
100% reservation based business, we have to adhere to a very specific policy
regarding cancellation. Please review this policy below:
- If you cancel up to 3 days ( 72 hours) prior to your class, a refund will be issued
in the form of store credit only.
- Within 72 hours prior to your class we CANNOT ISSUE REFUNDS OR CREDIT under
any circumstances as we have very limited space available and require advanced
reservations for all classes.
- In the event that we have a waiting list and can fill your space we may issue credit
to you, but it is not a guarantee that we will be able to do so.
- Don't forget - you can always send someone in your place if you can't make it, simply
let us know and we will make an adjustment to your reservation.
We reserve the right to cancel any class, at any time, for any reason. We make every
effort to give as much advanced notice as possible in the rare event we have to
cancel a class. Your payment will be refunded in full or you may request credit
or transfer of payment to another class.
If you are signed up for a series of classes or for our professional programs, please
note that no refunds will be given after the series has begun,
regardless of circumstance because space is limited in these series.
The class that I want to take is full! Can I be placed on a waiting list?
If you’d like to be placed on the waiting list for a full class, please call (760)
777-1161 and we will place you on the list. If space becomes available we will notify
waiting list names in the order they were placed on the list.
I missed out on a class that I’d really like to take. Will you be offering it
again?
Yes, most of our popular classes will make a repeat performance on our schedule
at some point. If you missed a class and would like to be notified when it is offered
again, please email or call us at (760) 777-1161.
I have a gift certificate!
Great, we will be happy to assist you with using your gift certificate towards the
purchase of classes or retail items. Give us a call at (760) 777-1161 and we will
get you started!
Gift certificates are good for 1 year from the date of purchase.
Gift certificates that have been donated for charity are redeemable for the purchase
of classes only please.

illness or in case of an emergency. Cancelled classes may be rescheduled, or your

Also, we cannot guarantee the safety of your valuables while you are cooking with
